Episode 11: ”Grief Isn’t Linear” Guest: Marta Mae
Grief Influencer and Co-Founder of Dieux Skin, Marta Mae sits down with Denise to discuss the universal and timely topic of Grief. 2020 has delivered new and compounding challenges leaving few, if any, people unscathed from this often paralyzing emotion. Marta Mae uses her own experience of losing her mother to deliver key takeaways and perspectives for entrepreneurs that may help them navigate grief in their own life. About Marta Mae: Grief Influencer and Co-Founder of Dieux Skin, Marta Mae studied textiles at FIT and ended up working in fabric development. After her mother passed away in her early 20s, she channeled her grief into building a community of like-minded women through an Instagram account she founded called “Hot Girls Eating Pizza”. Through working as a consultant for various brand launches, she has been responsible for building up dedicated followings for brands by collaborating with influencers, hosting and planning experiential events, and content direction. Most people can immediately identify the qualities and characteristics of things that are Marta, like softness, angel energy and tender openness. It is this sensitivity that has guided her entire life and to her beauty care company Dieux which she co-founded with Charlotte Palermino and Joyce de Lemos. If Marta Mae could bottle up a feeling and turn it into a brand, it would be Dieux, whose belief system is rooted in rituals for self-care with a healthy dose of kindness and attention to sustainability. True story: Marta Mae was sent to therapy in high school for crying too much. It didn’t work and remains her superpower to this day.
